DUSTON CONNAUGHTON, DDS
Duston is a dental-lifer. His first job, at the age of 13, was as a janitor in a dental office. He then worked his way throughout the office as an assistant and finally a dentist. Duston loves to share his passion as he has been on the faculty at the Idaho State University Dental Residency Program. He currently helps train and mentor dentists throughout the United States on CAD/CAM (CEREC®) dentistry.
Duston graduated from Southern Utah University with a bachelor’s degree in biology and earned many honors as a member of the football team. He then moved to Seattle, where he attended Seattle University and studied chemistry while working in cutting-edge medical research under a world-renowned rheumatologist.
From Seattle, Duston and his family moved to Omaha, Nebraska, to attend Creighton University Dental School. While attending dental school, Duston worked as a lead dental assistant for a practice that was open evenings and weekends. Dentistry became his life as he was immersed in it 24/7. With a more proper balance, dentistry has become a true passion.
Duston purchased the practice of Dr. John Kriz in 2003 and they worked together for four years. Dr. Kriz served as a wonderful mentor to Duston over that time. Dr. Connaughton worked with Dr. Jill Wagers for 10 years as partners at Emerald Dental Associates before Duston branched out with his team to form Tree City Family Dental in January 2014. Duston loves the art of dentistry and making positive changes in people’s lives.
Outside of the office, Duston enjoys his five kiddos, Daniel, Sophia, Grace, Emery, and Ella; his beautiful wife, Jessica; and their three dogs, Doug, Ted, and Frank. He is an amateur photographer and weekend warrior, spending free time on the slopes, trails, and rivers of our wonderful outdoor playground.
WHITNEY BATOR, DDS
Dr. Whitney Bator is a Washington-state native. Born and raised in Moses Lake, she then went on to attend Gonzaga University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in biology. GU is also where she met her husband, Kellan. They then moved to Seattle where she attended the University of Washington School of Dentistry. She graduated in the top 10% of her class, earning her a prestigious position in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. After dental school she went on to successfully complete a 1-year General Practice Residency at the University of Washington, where she excelled at treating medically complex and special needs adult patients. Through her residency program, Whitney received additional training in oral surgery, endodontics (root canals), pediatric dentistry, and removable prosthodontics (dentures). She has been certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and was trained in moderate conscious sedation.
She has received numerous additional honors and awards including: 2017 America’s Top Dentist Award, Kois Restorative Dentistry Scholarship, Achievement Award in Periodontics, Achievement Award in Orofacial Pain, Pierre Fauchard Academy Annual Scholarship and Leadership Award, Ben and Betty Zukor Scholarship, Stephen M. Talbot memorial Scholarship, the Jack Nicholls Award for Clinical Research, and the ADEA/Johnson & Johnson Preventive Dentistry Scholarship.
Whitney has continually demonstrated strong advocacy for underserved populations through multiple volunteer services throughout her career. She has been an associate faculty at the UW Dental Urgent Care Clinic, a volunteer dentist at the free Seattle King County Clinic, and most recently, at the Genesis Community Health Clinic in Garden City, ID. She loves how volunteering allows her to focus on relationships and connecting with members of her community.
Whitney and her family moved to Boise to escape the rain and traffic of Seattle in the summer of 2017. She has been a dentist in private practice since 2013 where she has focused on pursuing quality comprehensive and ethical care for her patients. She believes that her job is to educate and guide patients as they navigate the sometimes-confusing world of dentistry. She has been a CEREC and CAD/CAM dentist for the past two years and continually strives to be at the forefront of what technology can do for improving our medical and dental care. She is thrilled to have joined Duston Connaughton and his dedicated and talented team at Tree City Family Dental.
When she is not at the office, she enjoys spending time with her sons, Ben and Sam, and daughter, Emery; enjoying the outdoors with her husband, Kellan; working in her yard; staying active with yoga and running; and piecing the occasional quilt.

Erin – Registered Dental Hygienist
Erin has been a valued member of the Tree City Family Dental team since 2012. Her journey into dentistry began shortly after graduating from high school in 2002. She completed the Dental Assisting program at the College of Southern Idaho in 2003 and quickly discovered a passion for the field. To further her career in dentistry, she went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene in 2010.
Erin is dedicated to providing thorough, compassionate care and enjoys building strong relationships with her patients. She finds fulfillment in helping people achieve healthier smiles and takes pride in making every dental visit a positive experience.
She lives in Boise with her husband and their yellow lab, Matti. Outside the office, Erin enjoys traveling—especially to the Oregon Coast—cooking, listening to music, reading, playing board games, and exploring the Boise Greenbelt.
Kaylynn – Registered Dental Hygienist
Kaylynn, or as her family calls her Katie, was born and raised in the Sierra-Nevada foothills. She moved to Idaho in 2012 to be closer to family and to attend the dental hygiene program at Carrington College. Her career and passion for dentistry started while she was still in high school where she began working as a dental assistant. Katie worked as an assistant for 9+ years before becoming a hygienist. Continuing her education has always been a priority and in 2017 she graduated from Boise State University with her bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies. Katie, her husband, and their two dogs recently added a new baby to their brood; their first. We are all looking forward to being ‘aunts and uncles’ to the little guy. In their spare time, they try to spend as much time as possible enjoying the outdoors. When able, they enjoy traveling, camping, hiking, and fly-fishing.
Alyrie – Registered Dental Hygienist
Alyrie is a dedicated dental hygienist with a true passion for helping patients feel comfortable and confident about their smiles! Since graduating with her degree in dental hygiene in 2016, she believes in making every appointment a positive experience by combining gentle care with a personal touch.
Alyrie has a passion for getting to know her patients beyond the chair and always looks forward to building lasting connections while helping each person achieve their healthiest smile.
Outside of the office, Alyrie is a proud mom of three amazing kids who are her whole world. When she’s not busy with family life, you can usually find her enjoying an iced coffee, planning her next adventure, or simply soaking in the little moments that make life special — especially if those moments have glitter in them!

Tessa – Office Manager
Jumping into her dental career right out of high school in 2014, Tessa began her career assisting doctors in the back office before discovering her true calling at the front desk as an office manager. Her passion lies in patient care and ensuring every person who walks through the door feels welcomed and at ease. For Tessa, building long-lasting relationships with patients is one of the most rewarding parts of her role.
Outside the office, Tessa enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two kids. Her family shares a love for baseball and basketball, often cheering each other on at games and practices. In her downtime, you’ll find Tessa indulging in her favorite hobbies — playing on her Nintendo Switch, decorating cakes, painting her nails, and sneaking in a good nap when she can.
Mandie – Front Office Coordinator
Mandie has newly joined the dental field and has a lot of excitement about her career switch. She has a strong passion for helping others and with her background in healthcare, she discovered her love in creating positive experiences for patients and making them feel comfortable and cared for.
As an Idaho native, Mandie spends her free time exploring the natural beauty of her home state, often adventuring with her two dogs, Callie and Bella. She also enjoys cooking and has a strong passion for art and interior design.
JoyAnn – Dental Assistant
JoyAnn has been passionate about dentistry since 2013, when a commercial for a dental assisting school first sparked her interest. Once she found herself in the assistant chair, she knew she had found her calling. Over the years, her enthusiasm for dental assisting has only grown, and today she shares that passion as a weekend instructor at a local assisting school in Boise.
Outside of dentistry, JoyAnn is a devoted wife and mom to three energetic boys who keep her on the go with marching band, competitive soccer, and school events. When she finds time for herself, JoyAnn enjoys gardening, camping, fishing, and hunting. She also runs a specialty cake business, where she channels her creativity into designing beautifully crafted cakes.
Allison – Dental Assistant
Allison earned her certification in Dental Assisting in March of 2020 and has been a valued member of the Tree City Family Dental team for nearly five years. She feels grateful to work alongside such honest, hardworking doctors and team members. As her skills have grown, she has found one of the most rewarding parts of dentistry to be witnessing the smiles and happiness restored to patients.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, stepchildren, family, and friends. Together, they love going fishing, camping, and hunting—often bringing their dogs along for the adventure. A proud dog mom, she dotes on her two pups, who are spoiled, full of personality, and always keeping the family laughing with their playful antics and zoomies.
Crystal – Dental Assistant
Crystal is a certified dental assistant who began her dental career in 2013 as an orthodontic assistant. She is currently enjoying her role in a general dentistry practice, where she finds fulfillment in building meaningful connections with patients and being part of improving smiles every day.
Outside the office, Crystal loves exploring the beautiful Idaho outdoors with her poodle, Maizey. In her free time, she enjoys rafting, fishing, hiking, and taking in all that nature has to offer.
Yana – Dental Assistant
With just under a year of experience in dentistry, Yana has found joy in creating a safe and welcoming environment for patients in her role as a certified dental assistant. She loves helping people gain confidence in their smiles and encouraging them to smile more often. She’s grateful for the time, support, and learning opportunities she’s received at Tree City Family Dental, which have helped her expand her skills and build a strong foundation for a promising dental career.
Originally from Ukraine, Yana moved to the United States in December 2022. She enjoys spending her free time fishing, hiking, roller skating, and exploring all that Idaho has to offer. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and is trilingual, speaking three languages fluently.
